Wayne Mark Schafer

Wayne Mark Schafer, Sr. of Hedgesville WV, formerly of Baltimore Maryland passed away on May 26, 2026 losing a four year battle to squamous cell carcinoma. Beloved husband of Cynthia Marie Fahnestock-Schafer (nee: McLain). Wayne enjoyed BBQing at his company Big Fat Daddy’s selling his famous pit beef at fairs and festivals in multiple states. He appeared on Food Network several times and used to host the Hogging Up KCBS festivals in Winchester, Virginia. He enjoyed his off time in Maine with his dogs and friends. Survived by children Elizabeth Schafer, Wayne “Killian” Schafer and Grace Schafer and two grandchildren.  Predeceased by his mother Barbara Ann Schafer-Greer (nee: Majors) his stepfather Ronald Greer and his brother Brian Schafer. Wayne’s last wishes were a private cremation and for people to get their sun spots checked, and most importantly to thank the staff of GBMC especially his special friend, Dr. Masroor.
