Scott, Timothy R.
On July 3, 2023, Timothy R. Scott, husband of the late Frances “Lois” Thelma Scott (nee: Barry), passed away peacefully at 82 in Baltimore, MD.
Tim was the devoted father of Dana Scott (Bernhard) Gerber, Dean Scott (Jane Segebrecht), and Timothy (Lisa) Scott. Dear grandfather of Courtney (Chris) Mitchell, Candice (Ryan) Welling and Christian Scott. Great-grandfather of Hunter Mitchell, Timothy James “TJ” Mitchell and Charlotte Welling.
Tim was predeceased by his cherished older brother, John Ralph Scott, who passed away in 2004 and is survived by daughter Lisa Scott-Dzwonczyk.
Tim attended Sparrows Point High School and Essex Community College, where he first met Lois, his beloved wife of 57 years, by offering her a ride in his MG convertible as she waited for her father to drive her home.
Tim and Lois raised three children in Abingdon, MD and spent summers camping across the country with family and friends. Tim spent most of his career as a supervisor at the US Postal Service in Baltimore where his employees and co-workers were just as often his good friends, before he and Lois retired to the Delaware beach community (Swann Keys) they so loved.
Tim spent almost 20 years in retirement, which included traveling from Mackinac Island, Mich. to Florida, the Bahamas and Hawaii. He enjoyed continuing his tax preparation business with many long-time customers. But Tim was never more pleased then when out on his boat accompanied by friends, family, and his beloved dog Rudy.
Following the passing of his wife Lois in 2018, Tim still closely followed the Orioles on TV and attended occasional Orioles and Ravens games with family. He was an avid poker player who reveled in holding a good hand in Texas Hold ‘Em, at the Swann Keys club house and more recently at Oak Crest Senior Living in Parkville, Md. Tim also continued attending social functions at the Tall Cedars of Lebanon (Baltimore Forest #45), where he served as Grand Tall in 1999.
He will be remembered for his exceptionally generous and kind spirit, not only to family and friends but anyone who had a moment to share with him. His love for life and playful sense of humor will always be cherished.
Committal Service will be held at the Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5598 Trumps Mill Road (21206) on Saturday July 15th, 2023 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (aspca.org).
