Ree Retha Angel (Hall) Griffin

Ree Retha Angel Griffin (Hall) age 80, of Middle River, MD, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022.

Retha was born in Rosedale, MD to Charles Hall and his wife Velma (Jacob). She graduated from Kenwood High School and went on to receive a BS degree in Education from the University of Maryland (College Park). After graduation, she began teaching for Baltimore County Public Schools. During her 23-year teaching career, with a break to raise 2 children, she taught at a total of 15 different schools. After losing her husband, with her 2 kids in college, the last 13 years of her tenure she taught at Holabird Middle School while obtaining her Master’s Degree. She also served as the Family Studies and Technology Department Chairperson. A highlight of her career was being named Family Studies Teacher of the Year in 1991. She was a strong advocate for children and continually endeavored for greater gains in academic achievement and life skills experiences for all students. It was her firm belief that preparing students to function successfully in the home and to become responsible citizens in our modern world is the primary responsibility of education.

Retha was the beloved wife of the late Gervis Griffin; Devoted mother to RethaCarole Waltemyer (Griffin) and her husband Marty (Red Lion, PA) and the late Gerv Griffin and his widow Ruth Griffin (Lewis) (Columbia, MD); Dear sister to Carol Lindstrom (Adkins)  (Orlando, FL); Loving grandmother to Kendi Weicht (Waltemyer) and her husband Derek (Fort Worth, TX), Tyler Waltemyer and his wife Emily (Davis) (Nome, AK) and Jacob Griffin (Baltimore, MD); Proud great grandmother to Clara Weicht; Honored mother and grandmother to Joseph Samek, his wife Laura and their children, Bill Seidler and his partner Sherry Brewer, Daniel Yue, his wife Melissa and their children, Jim Orndorff, his wife Trish and their children, Sandy Costantini (Sieglein) and her husband Robert, and Daniel Scott and his children; Aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday and Tuesday 3-5 pm and 7- 9 pm at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME 1211 Chesaco Ave. Rosedale MD 21237

Interment: Will be held on a future date in June at Zion Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Christ 7200 Golden Ring Rd, Baltimore, MD 21221 with a Celebration of Life being held afterwards at the family shore home.
