Paul Walter Faya, of White Marsh, 82, was born on December 9, 1942, to his parents Julia and Walter Faya.
On Friday, June 30, 2025, Paul underwent robotic hernia repair surgery and sadly suffered complications after returning home over the weekend. Around 11 p.m. on Monday evening, his wife Peggy recognized signs of those complications but unfortunately did not make it and he left us on July 1, 2025.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Peggy Faya; his son Edward Faya and wife Christine Faya; his daughter Kristina Herbst and her fiancé’ Keith Gmurek; his granddaughter Ellie Faya and grandson Samuel Faya; his brother Fred Johnson; his beloved dog, Taffy; and many dear friends, students, and extended family members.
Paul lived a full and loving life. Before choosing a life that included a wife and children, Paul wanted to live a life as a Jesuit priest, but instead he held on to his faith in Jesus and attended college at the Loyola University in Chicago where he got his philosophy degree that led to a long career of 40 years in teaching where he successfully impacted many students and teachers at Loch Raven and Towson high schools. His students and colleagues knew him well and grew to love and adore the man and teacher he became. Paul was not only a man who had a strong passion for his career but had a stronger passion for his family, wife, kids, and eventually grand kids. He was funny, witty, and charming but the best thing about Paul Faya was his heart and the love he carried. He will truly be missed.
Details regarding a celebration of life are forthcoming.
