Lena M. Mazza, of Baltimore, Maryland, died December 29, 2020 at the age of 92.
Born December 20, 1928, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul E. and Mary Helen Baker, and the wife of the late Raymond P. Mazza
After graduating, in 1946, from Eichelberger Senior High School, in Hanover, PA, she received her bachelor’s degree in music education from Pennsylvania‘s Mansfield University in 1950. While attending college, she was a member of Lambda Mu, and honorary music Society for students who obtain outstanding academic and musical accomplishments. After her graduation from Mansfield University, she received her Master’s degree at John Hopkins University and Peabody Conservatory of music in Baltimore, MD.
During her 29 years of employment in the Baltimore County Public School system she taught music at Stemmers Run Junior High School, Golden Ring Junior High School, add the following elementary schools; Harford Hills, Hillendale, Hampton, Red House Run, and McCormick. Miss Mazza was awarded a PTA Life Membership from the State of Maryland. She was also a member of the MD Retired Teachers Association.
She had an avid interest in music and enjoyed giving private piano lessons. She also spent several years of her retirement residing in Melbourne, Florida and at the New Jersey Shore with her late husband Raymond.
Her final years were spent at Brightview assisted living in Belair Maryland.
Devoted mother of Jack Raymond Mazza and his wife Paula, Kay Lynn Wolff and her husband Robert and David Mario Mazza and his wife Joanne. Dear nanny to Nicholas, Stacey, Angela, Timothy, Lindsay, Rachel and Christie. Loving great-grandmother to Jack, Nicholas, Emerson, Ava, Everly, Dario, John Robert, and Leena.
Visitation Monday 4-7 pm at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME 1211 Chesaco Ave. Family and friends may gather Tuesday 9:30 - 10 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church (Overlea), for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
