John Coscia Sr. Obituary

Coscia Sr., John F.

On Thursday November 12, 2020 John Frederick Coscia, Sr.  passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age 93.  Beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Coscia (nee: Tasker); Devoted father to John F. Coscia, Jr., Ronald L. Coscia, Debora A. Hahn, Jennifer A. Creamer, the late Michael J. Coscia and Margaret A. Coscia; Dear brother of Margaret Wooden and Ann Nodonly and the late Samuel Coscia and Gertrude Wagner; Loving grandfather to Lora, Kimberley, Amy, Brittany, Matthew and the late Christopher and Daniel. Great grandfather of 10 great grandchildren.

John was born on May 5, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Gertrude (nee: Erhardt) and John Coscia.  He served in WWII with the U.S. Navy in 1944.  He married Betty in August of 1953.  They raised two sons, Johnny and Ronnie, and two daughters, Debby & Jenny.  He was a career mechanic for GM and enjoyed rebuilding (and cursing at) old cars and trucks with Ron.  His favorite was his 1970 Chevy C-10 truck.  Every car needed more chrome, a better spoiler or different rims.  He was a do-it-yourselfer and could fix or repair anything and would leave it better than he found it.  He made gardens at every house centered around the Virgin Mary, a flag pole and always nearby was a lamp post.  He enjoyed taking his family on long car rides and visiting family on the Eastern Shore.  Christmas gardens brought him joy and he displayed them every year.  He spent the last 25 years at the Golden Ring Co-Op where he made many friends and was the floor monitor for a period of time.  He enjoyed the "Follies" and playing cards with friends.  He would assemble very intricate puzzles and some of them he framed and proudly displayed in his home.  He had a big laugh and a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed his life, loved his family and was a humble man.
