   Faith Ruth Matthews (Nee: Hughes) of Port Deposit, MD, passed away on April 12, 2023, after a long illness. She was surrounded by those she loved as she went to be with the Lord. Faith was 75 years old.

   Faith was born on August 16, 1947, in Baltimore, MD (Highlandtown) to Vernon and Marie Hughes. She is survived by husband, William, sons; Chuck Eder (Bluie), Brian Eder (Angie) and W

ill Matthews (Melissa). Seven grandchildren complete the family: Julianna, Rhys, McKenna, Nicholas, Harper, Jacob and Jackson. Faith is also survived by brother Vernon Hughes Jr. (Margaret) and sister Kathy Diefenbach (Roy).

   Faith was a Senior District Sales Manager at Avon Products for 31 years. She loved her job and all those that helped her to be successful. She was also a member of the Charles Evering VFW Post 6506 Ladies Auxiliary in Rosedale, MD.

    Faith loved going to the beach, being in her pool, dancing, and posting about her family on Facebook. She supported all her grandchildren’s award ceremonies, sporting activities and dance recitals.

    Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Yoshi. We are thankful that we were able to spend time with her while she was in the rehabilitation center. She loved when we played bingo, hangman, and UNO. She also enjoyed having facials and manicures.

     Since September, Faith fought very hard, in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation centers. We appreciate all those that visited her, prayed for her, sent cards and called to check on her.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Plumpton Park Zoo, 1416 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

      Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5pm – 8 pm and on Saturday, April 22nd from 10 am – 11am. Funeral Services will begin at 11 am at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME, 1211 Chesaco Ave. Interment Gardens of Faith Cemetery
