On September 23, 2023, Doris Elaine Lopata (nee: Fitz) passed away peacefully after suffering from Alzheimer's and related symptoms. Beloved wife of Robert John Lopata; Devoted mother of Debra Dowdy and Kim Lopata; Proud grandmother to Katelyn Dowdy; and Loving "grandmother" to her many extra "grandchildren" including Nathan Lidke, Connor Yanchulis, and Tyler Egrie. Doris was preceded in death by her doting parents Robert Fitz and Elaine Fitz (nee: Bentz) and her loving Sister, Nancy Black.
Doris loved being a working wife and mother, many of her greatest accomplishments revolved around her job. Her favorite moment was the birth of her first grandchild. Then after retiring, it was spending time with her family. Her favorite memories include trips to the Grand Canyon, San Diego, Niagara Falls, numerous visits to Disney, camping, and her large Summer parties where friends traveled from all over to attend. Doris loved bowling, doing crafts, cooking, baking with her granddaughter, coloring, and watching Hallmark movies. And, from the first moment he stepped on the TV screen, Doris followed the career of Adam Lambert, and her dream of seeing him in concert was fulfilled when Debby and Katelyn took her to New Jersey to see him. Until her last breath, she would sing along to his music.
Visitation is this Friday 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME 1211 Chesaco Ave. Funeral Services are on Saturday 11 am. Interment at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
The family is asking if friends would consider making monetary donations to Amedisys Home Health Care (hospice) at 107 Chesapeake Boulevard, #124, Elkton, MD 21921 in the name of Doris, for the incredible care they bestowed upon Doris at her end of life.
