POISAL - David Ronald Poisal, Sr., age 82, of Auburn, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by his family. David was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by all. His wife of 62 years, Patricia (Smith) Poisal, was the love of his life and they shared a wonderful life together raising their four children. His wife and children always came first in his life, and he later was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren which he also was very involved with. He was born in Baltimore, MD in 1942 to William Crawford Poisal and Katherine Elizabeth (Karas) Poisal. He loved sports and especially the Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Orioles. After relocating to Georgia for his job at Western Electric, he became an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. David was passionate about bodybuilding and weightlifting and competed in competitions such as Mr. Dundalk (2 nd Place) and Mr. Maryland (Top Ten). David served in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He loved to dance with his wife, study the Bible and do home projects. Having a strong faith in the Lord, he was a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study Leader and avid “scholar” of the Bible. It was said many times by pastors and others that he knew the Bible more than anyone they had ever known. David built his first home at 25 years old and became the family “handyman”. With a smile on his face, he would fix, build, paint or do anything that was needed for any family member or friend. He taught his children and grandchildren that God and family are everything and he gave them an amazing example of what a father should be. He had an amazing work ethic and retired from Western Electric in Atlanta, GA. He also had a special love for chicken, ice cream and Captain Harvey’s Steak submarines.
David is preceded in death by his parents, William Crawford Poisal and Katherine Elizabeth (Karas) Poisal. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mary (Smith) Poisal, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Bryan Caudle; his sons and daughter- in-laws, David, Jr. and Ponnie Poisal, Mike and Julie Poisal and Tom and Shelby Poisal; grandson and wife, Justin and Heather Caudle, granddaughters and husbands, Renee and Adam Davis, Priscilla and CT Thomas, Taylor and Cameron Mote, grandson, Zachary Poisal and Haden Burleson and granddaughters, Macy Poisal and Aisley Burleson; great-grandchildren, Landon, Gloriana, Sierra and
