On January 7, 2026, Carroll T. "Rip" Almes passed away peacefully at his home. Beloved husband of the late Nancy Lee Almes (nee: Long); Devoted father of Gary Thomas Almes and father-in-law of Kristen; Loving grandfather of Kelsey Marie Almes and Griffin Thomas Almes. Proud great grandfather of Ava Grace Economas. Son of Guy Thomas Almes and Cecelia Frances Clarke. Air Force veteran (Korean War). "Mr. Rip" as he was affectionately known to many, was well-loved for his upbeat spirit and constant humor. He retired after a long career at Western Electric repairing machinery, only to un-retire and work for Baltimore County as a groundskeeper for many years. He rarely went for long periods without a dog by his side, loved wood carving and spending time with family, and was a good and loyal friend to all he knew.
