Forster, Bettie Lou (Schools)
Bettie Lou (Schools) Forster, 89, of Rosedale, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on April 21, 2024, at Gilchrist Center, Towson.
Bettie was born on February 3, 1935, in Tidewater, Virginia to Lindsay Logan and Viola Mable Schools. She was raised in Tidewater and graduated from Farnham High School. Bettie attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree and Master’s Equivalent. She began her teaching career for the Board of Education in Ashland, Virginia.
In September 1958, Bettie moved to Baltimore, Maryland and began working for the Baltimore County Board of Education at Chase Elementary School. She was a dedicated and passionate teacher at Chase for 30 years until her retirement.
Bettie enjoyed needlework, especially counted-cross stitch and knitting. With her love of knitting, all newborn babies in our family were gifted a blanket. Bettie enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, solving puzzles, reading books, playing Chinese checkers and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.
As an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Bettie enjoyed volunteering, donating knitted baby items to the church and treasuring her church friendships. Bettie also served as president of the Local Christian Women’s Connection for many years.
Bettie was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles Arthur Forster; five sisters, Myrtle Lazzaro, Lucy Armetta, Mable Langston, Helen Schools, and Edythe Schools; four brothers, Herbert Schools, Melville “Chunk” Schools, Lawson Schools, and Reamy Schools. She was also predeceased by one niece. She is survived by nine nieces and three nephews; nineteen great nieces and nephews; twenty-four great-great nieces and nephews and one great, great, great nephew.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon for visitation at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 8212 Philadelphia Rd., Rosedale, (21237). Funeral service will begin at noon. Entombment at Gardens of Faith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME.
