Benjamin Ehrman Obituary

Benjamin William Ehrman, suddenly on November 28, 2022, of Essex, MD. Born on July 26, 1962, to Robert and the late Barbara Ehrman (nee: Boyer) and raised in Barrington, NJ. Beloved brother of Carole Mercer and David Ehrman, and dearest Uncle to Kevin Ehrman, Robert Mercer, and Patrick Mercer.  Ben was a graduate of University of Maryland in Baltimore County and worked many years as a biomedical photographer and electronic media administrator in various Maryland hospital systems.  He had a passion for many things in life including high-quality timepieces, fine food and spirits, photography, and shooting at the Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Center.  Over the last few years, his heart was captured by the cutest little cat he rescued from a shelter named Maia. She provided Ben with immeasurable happiness and companionship. Ben had a witty, unforgettable personality that could make a sour person sweet again (or fall on the floor laughing) and he was wickedly smart and well-read too.

His legacy will be carried on through his loving family, and his partner and life love, Lok Lam.  He is also survived by more good friends than any one man could possibly wish for, and the void left by his absence may never be filled.

Ben expressed to loved ones on many occasions that if the inevitable ever occurred, he did not want any formal services.  His wishes are being honored, and there will be an informal memorial gathering at a later date near the lighthouse in Cape May, NJ where his cremains will be spread at the same oceanside spot as his mother’s some 25 years ago.  He would love nothing more than to be memorialized with his beloved mother, who also left us much too soon. Finally, his family would like to thank those that have been so supportive over these last two difficult weeks.  Ben was a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and donations made in his name to the Human Rights Campaign (www.hrc.org) would be appreciated by the family and will certainly honor his memory in a way that would make him very happy.

Peace be with all of you.
