Donald E. St Jean, 87, passed away peacefully Monday September 4, surrounded by loving family in Blacksburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years and the love of his life, Virginia Mae (Ginny) St Jean (Mellott), his brothers, Albert and Jerome St Jean and his sister, Lauretta Donnelly. He is survived by his sister-in-law, JoAnn Tasker of Baltimore, MD, 15 nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
Donald was a life-long Baltimorean who loved singing, dancing, jokes, laughter, steamed crabs, good food, chocolate, his Baltimore Colts, Ravens and Orioles. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and worked as a building inspector until his retirement. In the fall of 2014, he decided to leave Baltimore and join his nephew, Christopher St Jean and family in Southwest VA. Donald marveled at the beauty of the mountains and sky in the New River Valley, but especially loved the people. Upon arriving, he was immediately embraced and loved by the staff and residents at his new senior living community, his church family at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and everyone who met him. Donald quickly became a big Virginia Tech Hokie sports fan. The family wishes to thank everyone who enriched his life in his Virginia home. Memorial donations may be given to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 355 Independence Blvd NW, Christiansburg, VA 24073; or to Church of the Annunciation, 5212 McCormick Ave, Baltimore, MD 21206
A visitation will be held on Thursday September 14 from 6-9 pm at Cvach Funeral Home, 1211 Chesaco Ave, Rosedale, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday September 15 at 10 am at the Church of the Annunciation, Rosedale, MD with interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery Brooklyn, MD.
