My dad is a great man. An honest man. He cherished me and my brother and he cherished his time with my mother. He could be a hard person to get or understand, but I saw him at his most honest. He could be hurt easily because he cared so much. Little mementos meant a lot to him as well as pictures. He knew the value in preseving a memory with a photograph and letting it take you back.

As I scanned the pictures that will be seen on Thursday, I can safely say it was the most heart-wrenching experience I've been through this his passing. Seeing the memories and the love contained within them. He knew life could mess with your existence so you had to preserve happy times.

He knew a lot about cars, electricity, plumbing and I would always turn to him when I had a question that needed answering. He also had a devious sense of humor that I've inherited. He loved to laugh. My dad was also a doer. If something needed to be done he would do it no matter how distasteful he found it. He was never big on chit-chat. I can only hope to be half the man that he is.
